Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED

OH, what's this, a replacement for "The Beast"? If you are unfamiliar with "The Beast", the beast is the Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8D. It's a pretty good lens that weights about 43 lbs, serious! Ok, not really, but this lens has been redesigned and engineered for edge to edge sharpness on the D3 full frame camera. I had "The Beast" once and I put it up against the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. The Tamron was sharper than "The Beast" oddly enough, :bizarre:. Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED So what's the significance of this lens? I ordered one to give it a go and see how it does. 🙂  It better be fantastic, the 28-75mm Tamron F2.8 that will work on a full frame camera is already up on ebay.
